3 things (could easily be 3 different posts, but these are the things that go through an artist's head on a daily basis. it'll be something new tomorrow)
1. donny deutch did his show about teacher sex scandals. that will never be something i have to worry about, but what does concern me are the crazy parents, especially the ones who think that society owes them something and will take advantage of others to do something about it, and the false allegations that could follow. i already know not to put myself in any type of situation that could even be perceived as compromising, but being a male and in something as delicate as special ed, i have to be ultra-cautious.
2. random 1 is quite possibly the best show on television. what was interesting to me about tonight's episode (#8 i think) was that the 2 guys who go out and meet the people they are going to help asked the people in the rv (the people behind the scenes who do all the work on the business side of things) if they would come out and meet the beneficiaries. their immediate reaction wasn't one of willingness. they were willing to help in their roll: calling businesses and others for help, etc, but they weren't as eager to step out from behind the scenes.
we've all got roles. what's yours? figure out what your body part is in the church, in the world, and go with it. i think that's when we'll realize our dreams: when we follow what we're truly called to be.
3. i've gotta buy derek webb's solo albums. reading his myspace blogs gives me a lot of hope. i've always connected to the songs he wrote with caedmon's call (more so than the others on the albums) but reading quotes from the new ones makes me say "hey, that's what i've been thinking!" he seems to be quite a christian liberal like myself. what does that mean? we care strongly about the social issues that the republican party likes to ignore. first and foremost we are christians and the bible is our authority on law and life. a lot of the republican agenda ignores the basic ideas of christianity. abortion and homosexuality are not the only christian values.
