blue and reviews

eggo waf-fulls are not full and not worth spending money on.

speaking of not spending money, the jason mraz cd is terrible. there are about 3 decent songs and the rest are forgettable.

speaking of songs, i love nickel creek, but chris thile's songwriting has gotten stranger and stranger and i frankly don't know what "when in rome" means.

speaking of songwriting, i've never bought a foo fighters album, but i'm convinced that dave grohl is perhaps the best pop song writer of the last decade. he's consistently good.

speaking of being consistently good, water. it never lets you down. drink a lot of water kids.

fishin'

it stopped raining just long enough for us to go fishing, so we loaded up the bus (ok, there were 6 of us) and headed to the fish hatchery's kid's fishing pond.

how to catch a snake

step 1: get a stick and a broom
(we didn't use our bare hands until a couple of weeks later. well, i caught the first snake and used only my hands, but mine wasn't as mean and i dropped it 3 times before getting it into the cage. twice because i thought it was about to bite me, and once because blue tried to bite it. this one was much meaner and we let it go after it bit folks. mine was very calm and we taught the kids about snakes with it. i let him go my last day there.)

step 2: admire its blue eyes
(the flash made 'em that way, kinda like ours turn red. you outta see my dog's eyes, the blue one reflects red, the brown one reflects green)

step 3: pin it down so you can grab it behind its head without it biting you

step 4: make a goofy face and say, "got you sucka."

step 5: do stretching exercises

more snake pictures to come, like mine doing funny things on my head. (i haven't seen the pics yet, the film's still in my camera.)

new puter, new funiture, same old apt

one of the disadvantages of getting a new computer (maybe the only one) is that my old scanner doesn't work. i've got a lot of great images to get up here, so it looks like i'm going to be using my old computer until it officially doesn't turn on anymore (it's close) just for scanning. but yeah, i got a brand new dell and i'm super excited about it. it was an early graduation present, but something that i needed in order to graduate. may will be here before you know it anyway.

since the last time i posted:
1) camp is over. it was fun, but i was ready for a change of scene. poor blue's bored now and sleeps all the time. he was amazing with the kids and behaves better now, so i'm pretty excited.
2) a 4th ex got engaged. chaille, the girl with commitment-phobia as bad as me is engaged. (insert end of the world joke here.) she dated a few guys after me so i can't add her to the list of date-me-then-get-marrieds, but this is still noteworthy news.
3) got a little romantic confusion going on, but then again, when am i ever NOT romantically confused? i'll just say someone surprised me, twice, and we'll see what happens. probably nothing, it's summer.
4) i have to report to an elementary school on tuesday. as much as i'm dreading it and wish i could fight it, it's going to be fun and i'm really going to enjoy it... right?!? with starting the fall semester in july, i'm done by thanksgiving, so maybe i can substitute teach or some other temporary type job and make a little winter money.
5) my apt is a wreck and i need to clean it. even blue has problems walking around in the clutter. i need to get rid of my old couch and all these computer boxes.

i wish i had something witty or exciting to write home about, but there ain't no cure for the summertime boredom. or this heat. it's amazingly hot outside, it was nothing like this in the mountains. i'm going to hate to see my power bill because my apt has no insulation. my rent's cheaper this year which might help compensate for it.

i'll leave you with some song lyrics i found when listening to songs i've written over the years:

Reliving my life through receipts from gas stations
And the memories of towns and people I met along the way
Recalling trips back home and to your place
Days when I called you mine and things were okay

Reliving ideas and the images of that summer
When a week on a sailboat made things alright
Times when I dreamed things couldn’t get much better
And days full of boredom turned to endless nights

want to get married?

it's official ladies. if you want to get married, date me. no, i won't marry you. the first guy you date after me will be "the one." just found out a 3rd ex is getting married. craziness.

Camp... week __ ?

only 2 weeks of camp left and i'm looking forward to it being over. nothing to really complain about, i'm just ready for a change. we're finally having our traditional resident camps starting tomorrow. i've been needing more interaction with the kids, and i'm finally going to get it. pray for me that i can be there for the kids while still supporting some staff who need people to be there for them. i hope i can be who they need me to be. don't worry, i'm still taking a lot of pictures and will have plenty up in a few weeks.

i'm gonna take a little nap because blue woke me up too early this morning. next it's off to athens to celebrate eric's 15th birthday.
