i am thankful...

you know i ran across an old box of letters
when i was bagging up some clothes for goodwill
and you know i had to laugh that the same old struggles
that plagued me then are plaguing me still
-caedmon's call "thankful"
sure, cleaning out the closet and the rest of the apartment isn't exactly a spiritual excursion, but it does say a lot for my life and even mental health. i'm not good at being busy, so the past year and a half has been pretty difficult for me. i don't multitask well, so things get neglected. being an introvert one of those is friends. i don't have a lot of friends down here, and pretty much no close ones (i've got what i'd call 2 or 3 good friends down here, but i have a feeling i'm much lower on their totem pole than they are on mine). in my time in milledgeville, i've done a good job of finding one close friend and having them move away after one year.

being an education major takes a good 8 or 9 hours a day, and when you stack hobbies and addictions (internet, tv, etc.) to that, there's not much time to do things like clean up after yourself and your dog. it's also amazing how much stuff one can accumulate in just over a year and a half in a one bedroom apartment. there are the clothes, notebooks, magazines, drawings students have done for you that you don't want to throw away, small cardboard boxes from amazon and half.com shipments you saved in hopes someone would buy your old textbooks, and the dog hair and dust. so i'm putting in a few good hours now to see how far i get and what memories i can dig up. i gotta start eating right and exercising too, cause the dean gut has officially started enlarging. it's a family trademark and makes getting into khakis more and more difficult every day.

so what's this say about my spiritual life? something about get off your lazy butt you sluggard. do something good for yourself for a change. and quit hitting the dang snooze button, you don't go back to sleep so you're wasting precious time.

oh, and as for my grammy predictions yesterday, i have no idea how they came out cause i didn't watch the show. (but whit taped it for me!) that's right, mr. dean was preparing for a lesson that he taught today using edible maps to create the 10 landforms i'm giving them a test on tomorrow. it was dang good eatin'!

  1. while you are motivating yourself, throw some motivation this way. I feel your pain, multi-tasking does not come naturally to me either. I hope the apartment is looking great now!
